“Paso Robles used to be famous for cattle, not Cabernets,
but these days it's the most unpretentious and enjoyable wine region in the West”
- Sunset Magazine
Paso Robles, on California’s beautiful Central Coast, is conveniently located midway between San Francisco & Los Angeles. Originally named El Paso De Robles (the Pass of the Oaks) the city was established in the 1880s. Paso has it’s roots in ranching and boasts a charming historic downtown with a wonderful city park and town square.
The Paso Robles climate, with it’s hot days and cool nights, is uniquely suited to red wine grape varietals. Recognition of Paso Robles as a major premium wine region of California is well established and continues to grow. In the last decade there has been a significant 72 percent increase in vineyard development through out the Paso Robles wine country. It was one of the most dramatic increases of any American Viticultural Area. Paso Robles now has over 26,000 acres of wine grapes, 170 wineries, and more than 100 tasting rooms. |
